Q and A
Can a beginner take this course?
As long as you have some practice with soft pastels, you should be able to keep up with the course. This is a self-study course and you can take your time to practice what you are learning. The projects follow from more simple to more complex. I also review Color Concepts in the first chapter to make it easier particularly for beginners to work with color in pastels.
----
Can I use oil pastels instead of soft pastels?
Oil pastels are very different from soft pastels, they would not mix/layer the same way. I would assume that the Soft Pastels techniques I'm teaching in this course would not apply to oil pastels.
----
Do I need to have wave photos?
I provide photos for all the projects and exercises in the course. I will also have some extra photo references available so you can practice what you learn.
----
I have no formal art training. Can I take this course?
There are so many wonderful artists who don't have any formal art training. Though this is not a pastel basics course, I do have a quick review of basic concepts to make it easier for anyone to follow the lessons.
