Painting Marsh Landscape with Soft Pastels

Independent Study Course
(includes 2 full video demos and 1 shorter exercise video demo).

How often did you look at a potential reference photo but put it away because the color in the photo just was dull and uninspiring? In this course, besides learning to paint beautiful Marsh Landscape, you'll see how to use the photos as a starting point and bring the scenery to life with Light and Color. In the demo projects, I'll show you how instead of copying the colors in the photos, we can take the necessary inspiration from them and create paintings with luminous color, depth and atmosphere.

We'll also learn to paint grasses and reeds convincingly, giving the shape and volume, while keeping some of that lovely crisp details expressing their character and creating rhythm.

Since water is a big part of the Marsh Landscape, we'll learn how to create those beautiful realistic reflections.

The demo projects allow you to practice both the Wet Underpainting technique and painting Directly on toned paper.

Teachable.com provides unlimited time access to this course - you'll have many years to master the techniques I teach.

What my students are saying about this course and my classes and workshops:

"Hi Lana,
I wanted to let you know that you are one of the best instructors that I’ve had. You take the time to thoroughly explain not only what you are doing but why you are doing it. I appreciate how you constantly reference color theory and explain the steps as you progress from start to completion. All of your classes that I have purchased are top notch. I actually feel like I’m learning the process and will be able to develop my own paintings. Thank you for sharing your talents and knowledge with us all!

"I have always admired your work, so I was thrilled to be able to take this class from you. Being a teacher, I can spot a good teacher a mile away, and you have what it takes to do that...you know how to break down the steps needed to get the lesson across to students and help them paint a successful painting. Thank you so much for offering this workshop!

Thank you again!"
