In this course, you will explore and capture different moods of this beautiful colorful season - from brilliant sunlit fall scenery to a moody late autumn sunset.

Autumn brings gorgeous color into landscape, but it might be a challenge to paint these warm glowing colors convincingly. In this course, I focus on how the color changes in different light or weather conditions so that we can create depth in the scene and volume in the trees.

Since the trees are the main characters of this season, you will get plenty of practice painting realistic trees. You will learn to see the trees as shapes first and then build volume and develop the details in the process.

Materials

UART sanded paper, 400 grit, neutral color, 9"x12" and/or 12"x18"

Toned sanded paper like Canson Touch or Art Spectrum Colourfix (neutral mid tones and darker mid tones are great)

Hard and Soft pastels

Isopropyl Alcohol (you can use water instead)

Flat synthetic brush about 3/4"

Bristle brush for corrections

Artists' Masking Tape to attach the paper to the board

Foam core board

Glassine or Tracing paper to protect the finished project

Hi! I'm Lana Ballot.

I'm excited to share with you my passion for the Color and the beautiful medium of pastels!

I am a professional artist and pastel painting instructor, living on Long Island, NY. I have been teaching classes and workshops throughout the United States and internationally.

I have been exhibiting and won awards in National as well as International Juried competitions, including the Pastel Society of America’s annual show Enduring Brilliance and the prestigious Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 competition.

My work has been published in national and international art magazines, such as Plein Air Magazine, Pastel Issues of the Pratique des Arts, Artists & Illustrators.

I'm a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and The American Society of Marine Artists.
